Divulgada a classe 2018 do International Swimming Hall of Fame

O Museu da Fama da Natação, ISHOF, International Swimming Hall of Fame, anunciou esta semana a classe de 2018 para os homenageados que serão induzidos ao Hall nos dias 18 a 20 de maio em Fort Lauderdale, na Flórida, Estados Unidos.

Este ano, só deu mulher entre os homenageados. Na classe de 2018 estão as nadadoras Rebecca Adlington, Grã-Bretanha, Amanda Beard, Estados Unidos, e Libby Trickett, Austrália. A americana Brenda Villa é a homenageada do pólo aquático, a russa Irina Lashko e a japonesa Miho Takeda do nado artístico. O único esporte que não vai premiar as mulheres é nas maratonas aquáticas onde o búlgaro Petar Stoychev é o homenageado.

Entre os treinadores, o australiano Bill Sweetenham é quem recebe as honrarias do ano. Dois atletas que foram homenageados no ano passado, e não puderam comparecer a cerimônia, o nadador americano Ian Crocker e a saltadora americana Laura Wilkinson também estarão presentes ao evento.

O evento de três dias também reconhecerá o ex-head coach da Seleção Americana Frank Busch pelo desempenho do time americano durante o seu período de trabalho. O velocista Anthony Ervin, o mais velho campeão olímpico da história, 36 anos nos 50 metros nado livre no Rio 2016, receberá um prêmio pelo seu livro “Chasing water, elegy of an Olympian”, onde descreve toda a sua trajetória no esporte especialmente os altos e baixos da carreira até chegar ao título olímpico.
