Seletiva combinada, convencional e paralímpica, a Nova Zelândia apresentou a sua equipe para os Mundiais de Fukuoka e Manchester. Para Fukuoka, 16 nadadores, três a mais do que os 13 que estiveram no último Mundial em Budapeste. Para o Mundial Paralímpico, a Nova Zelândia apurou sete nadadores em 16 provas individuais e mais dois revezamentos. Na última edição do Mundial Paralímpico, os neozelandeses ganharam cinco medalhas e bateram um recorde mundial.

Foram quebrados seis recordes nacionais na natação convencional com destaque para Erika Fairweather com seus 4:00.62 nos 400 metros nado livre, a sexta melhor nadadora da história.
